Catalan animal welfare organizations call for the end of correbous

On Wednesday, September 6th, animal welfare organizations Anima Naturalis, Ong ADDA, Fundación Franz Weber, Fundacion Fauna, FAADA, Libera, Lex Ánima y ACTYMA urged all the political parties of the Catalan Parliament to put an end to correbous (bullfighting festivals held in Catalonia) after a bull managed to escaped from the enclosure while the correbou was held in Vidreres (Girona). 19 people were injured, one of them severely, and the bull was shot.
The decision of animal welfare associations is to join our forces and ask politicians to find the courage to reopen the debate of correbous in Catalonia. Due to the “exceptionality” on the current Animal Protection Law, bullfighting festivals with bulls, cows and heifers are still legal in Catalonia.

Now that 10 years have passed since the Parliament of Catalonia banned bullfighting, it is time to move forward in the defense of animals and achieve a consistent and fair law that eradicates animal abuse.
