The World Day for Animals in laboratories is held every year on April 24 to raise awareness on the suffering and killing of millions of animals used in experiments. Every year, 120 millions of all species of animals– 12 millions of them in the EU – suffer and die in laboratories worldwide. Animal defenders are once again calling on governments and scientists to devote more economic resources and efforts to develop alternative methods without animals, with more reliable results, but which have to deal with the interests of routine procedures with animals.
